Bee Sting Therapy to Treat Rheumatism and Arthritis

While many people avoid contact with bees, in China people are lining up to receive bee sting therapy. Bee sting therapy is claimed to cure rheumatism and arthritis.

The practice of bee sting has been trusted for more than 3,000 years. Therapy that puts the bees living in the patient’s body at certain pressure points have been approved since 2007.

The principle is similar to acupuncture therapy, which replaces a bee sting needles commonly used. The difference lies in bee venom, which changed the treatment process to be like the injection process.

Doctors at the clinic Kang Tai Bee believe that this type of natural medicine is very effective in healing and treatment of many diseases
, Including rheumatism and arthritis (arthritis).
“Therapy bees have a clear effect in patients with disease
bones and joints. Treatment depends on bee venom can help blood circulation, reduce inflammation and reduce pain, “said Wang Jing, doctors in traditional medical facilities in the northeast of Beijing, reported by weirdasianews, Friday (01/28/2011).

According to Jing, not just any bees can be used for this therapy. Clinics typically have a specific hybrid facilities that choose particular bee species with a long sting of 0.3 mm and containing 0.3 mg venom.
Therapy procedure is quite simple. Doctors usually use tweezers to take the bees from the nest. One by one bee was placed at points of different pressure on the painful area.

Bees will sting and then die, leaving a sting for a few hours. In that period, the patient will receive help to overcome the pain and discomfort.

But though looks easy, this therapy should not be done by random people. Need rigorous training to perform the bee sting therapy, among others, about the length of time to sting and the number of bees that must be used.

Previous studies have found bee venom therapy successful in treating inflammatory diseases because it has analgesic properties and immuno-modulatory strong to help reduce inflammation and promote healing. In addition also contains anti-inflammatory compounds and some, including melittin adolapin.

Inflammatory disease that can be treated with therapies such as Rheumatoid Arthitis bees, gout, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, pain or keloid scars, Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

But alternative medicine has not been recognized in medicine. Medical practitioners say the composition of bee venom is unknown and potentially dangerous with the risk of anaphylactic shock, which can be fatal.
