Smoke Damaged Cells in Minute Counts

Toxins are formed with such speed to inject the drug into the bloodstream

Hidayatullah.com-suction-Some first cigarette in a matter of minutes can cause cell damage that triggers cancer.

In his research, a group of U.S. scientists said, "The effect is very fast as injecting liquids directly into the bloodstream."

Research they are doing it is the first track how the substances contained in cigarettes can cause DNA damage. The results appear in the journal Chemical Research in Toxicology published by the American Chemical Society.

By examining 12 volunteers smokers, scientists trace pollutants called PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), which is contained in tobacco smoke and can be found in plants that burned and baked goods.

They track a specific type, namely phenanthrene which is found in cigarette smoke, through the blood. It was found that in the blood of substances that form a toxin that can damage the DNA that mutate and cause cancer. The number of direct toxic form in large quantities only 15-30 minutes after the cigarette smoked.

Lung cancer kills about 3,000 people every day in the world, 90% of them associated with smoking. [on / AFP / klj / hidayatullah.com]
