Permanent Brain Activity 4 Make a lessening

A recent study involving nearly 7,000 British civil servants revealed that the human brain functions will decline after entering the age of 45 years. These findings argue well as previous research that says that the decreased brain function at the age of 60 years.

Dr. Michael Merzenich, professor emeritus from the University of California, San Francisco United States, said the decline in brain function tends to be slower in women than men due to hormonal differences. But if a woman has been through the menopause, will gradually slow the cognitive decline is equivalent to a man entered the age of 65 years, says Merzenich.

Merzenich, who is also CEO of Scientific Learning and Posit Science Corporation, has been studying the plasticity of the brain for years. His company has developed a software program to test and strengthen the brain - a sort of a tool for "brain exercise" and he likened the exercise to the body. Brain plasticity (neuroplasticity) is the brain's ability to reorganize in the form of a new interconnection to the nerves
"You can actually train the brain to systematically refine and strengthen its capacity in the form of intensive training," he said.

Merzenich says that there are simpler ways to help improve brain function, including memory, processing, and perception through the daily activities of the following:

1. Read

In addition to expanding knowledge and information, reading can also help improve brain function. 2009 research conducted by experts at the Mayo Clinic shows that reading a positive influence, especially in middle-aged adults and older. Reading books and other cognitive activities can reduce the risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), which is associated with Alzheimer's disease.

2. Walking and looking around

Sharpen the brain functions can be done in a simple manner, such as walking. Try walking around your home environment and record everything you see. After I got home, back to reconstruct in detail the route and all sorts of things that you see.
"This is a form of mental exercise is very important because it makes us alive brain machines," says Merzenich

3. Learning something new
Doing a new activity and you've never done before, especially that stimulate the brain works you should try. Playing chess or crosswords (crossword puzzle) is one form of the game quite challenging your cognitive function. "The brain is a machine learning and basically need to learn new," he said.

4. Join social activities

Involved in any social activities of daily essential not only to keep you from feeling lonely, but also to train the most important part of the brain that is dedicated to social cognition.
"Engaging in a social activity is very valuable. This method is good for your brain health," he said.
