Keep a watchful Sodium Foods High



Foods containing salt had only synonymous with salty foods. Though quite a lot of foods that actually taste sweet or savory to keep sodium high enough.


According to data from Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the bread turned out to be a high source of sodium in the diet of most Americans. The same levels of salt found from potato chips and pretzels.



As a comparison, one slice (slice) of bread contains 100-200 milligrams, depending on the type and brand of bread, while an ounce of potato chips contains about 120 mg or more sodium.

Other sources of sodium are found in the consumption patterns of Americans such as processed meats, pizza, poultry meat, fast food burgers, sandwiches, cheese, and pasta dishes.

"Bread is actually no more salty than other foods, but consumed quite frequently. In addition bread as well as a source of calories consumed in large quantities," said Mary Cogsweell, from the CDC.


While it is fairly high sodium content which is often consumed in our daily diet include chicken noodle, sausage, meatball noodles, instant noodles, oxtail soup, donuts and even does contain a fairly high sodium. Sauces, pickles, and canned foods also contain high salt.


Sodium or sodium plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance in the body. In addition it also serves to lead the nerve impulses that affect muscle contraction and relaxation.

If too much sodium in the blood, blood volume will increase because sodium attracts and binds water. As a result, the heart must pump harder to increased blood flow is increased so that the pressure in the arteries.

Eating too much sodium is known to increase risk of stroke, heart failure, osteoporosis, colon cancer, and kidney disease.
