Most Treatment Safe When Breastfeeding

As well as pregnant women, nursing mothers should also be careful before taking any medication, including nonprescription. Even so, the latest research shows most drugs and vaccinations safe for breastfeeding mothers.
A new research group in the United States pediatricians revealed, treatments and vaccinations carried out most mothers when breastfeeding is not going to affect the quality of breast milk (ASI). By doing so, nursing mothers should not worry that he was doing the treatment could harm the health of the baby.
During this time, nursing mothers often delay breastfeeding while under treatment. Plus, most drugs are also warned not to be consumed by breastfeeding mothers. It has the potential to reduce the success of exclusive breastfeeding.
According to the researchers, the concerns and the inclusion of warnings on the drug is actually due to the lack of research on how the drug is distributed through breast milk. They also conduct research to add to the literature on the subject.

They also stressed the importance of doctors to more openly communicate about controversial treatment during lactation.
"Because we know breastfeeding is beneficial to the health and development of mothers and infants, we conducted this research to help physicians make patient treatment decisions," said study author Dr. Day Cheryl Sachs, a pediatrician and head of a team of pediatricians and health content for the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In a study published in the journal Pediatrics, the researchers aim to change the drug's label, warning of a detailed explanation of the ability of each drug to be passed through breast milk.
Diana West, a lactation consultant and spokesperson for La Leche League International, said the general message that can be drawn is that most drugs do not affect breastfeeding. Then the mother does not need to stop breastfeeding while taking the drug.
"This is exciting news and progress are very good for lactating mothers," he said.
However, the researchers admit there are also the kinds of treatment that a dangerous impact on the baby. These drugs include pain relievers containing narcotics such as codeine, oxycodone, and proproksifen.
Then nursing mothers should avoid drug-drug pain relievers containing narcotics. Conversely, if you need pain relief medication, then choose a safer, such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or naproxen
