5 Nutritious Insect High

World's food and agriculture organization (FAO) some time ago called the potential of insects as a source of nutritious food which is cheap and available in abundance around us.

Get to know what insects are highly nutritious are worth a try!

1. cricketCrickets is long consumed by people in several countries in Asia. High calcium content makes it the most widely consumed insects.

"Protein is the nutrient most of the insects, but there is also the calories, vitamins, and minerals," said May Berenbaum, head of the entomology department of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.


2. grasshopper
The shape is similar to the crickets, but the locusts have antennae shorter and more active during the day. A high nutritional content makes locusts can be a healthy snack option.

Protein content in locusts is almost equivalent to a piece size of 100 grams of chicken breast, but with more fat. These insects are even more delicious when roasted or spiced garlic, onion, chili, and soy sauce.

3. Giant water beetle
Giant water beetle (giant water beetles) often captured by residents in rural areas of Thailand. In addition to being easy to find, these insects also secrete unpleasant smell when cooked. Much higher protein content than red beans.

4. red ants
Red ants and their eggs has long been known in the culinary Eastern country. In addition to containing high protein, the ant has less fat such as fish. Even so, the red ants gather is not easy because this little animal is quite a pain if bite.

5. caterpillar leaves
Caterpillars are also not new insects into food. High protein content to be a major advantage for the caterpillar consumed.
