Beware If Cholesterol Begins Uncontrolled

Ordinary people need to know that there are two types of cholesterol in our blood, good cholesterol (HDL) and bad cholesterol (LDL). High LDL cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) is a condition when the cholesterol level in the blood is higher than normal the body needs.

But many people are less aware that the excess levels of bad cholesterol can be negative for the sufferer. "High cholesterol can be fatal, such as heart attacks and strokes," said the cardiologist, Dr. Dr. Antonia Anna Lukito, SpJP, in a special seminar "Peeled High Cholesterol Problems" at Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village, Saturday (10/6).

The seminar attended by adult participants from Tangerang Raya and surrounding area also shared the knowledge of the community about the danger of bad cholesterol in the blood, as well as efforts to increase public awareness to diligently control their cholesterol as directed and doctor's advice. Also present in the seminar that specialist in dr. Mozes LJ Silaban, SpPD.

Dr. Jeffry Oeswadi, MARS, Vice Chief Executive Officer of Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village said that the seminar on cholesterol topics is very important considering many people are still less concerned with their health. With the medical services available the hospital appealed to the public to care and diligently control cholesterol levels.

"Follow the doctor's instructions to regularly check cholesterol.If the results are high, control with a healthy diet and diligent exercise," said Dr. Jeffry Oeswadi.
