Recognize 3 Symptoms of Retinal Abdominal Rarely Recognized

Retinal detachment is a condition of retinal neurosensory structure retina from underlying supporting structure that is Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE). If not treated promptly, retinal detachment may cause visual impairment to permanent blindness.
"The type of retina regmatogen ablation (preceded by retinal tear) is the most cases," said Director of Primasana Hospital Tanjung Priok, Dr. Cosmos O Mangunsong SpM when met at his office some time ago.
Cosmos says there are several factors that can cause the risk of retinal detachment to be higher in a person. These risk factors include a collision history, advanced age and a high minus in the eye.
Higher minuses and old age cause the retina to become thinner and thus more susceptible to tearing. "We say the minus height is above minus 4," continued Cosmos.
One of the earliest symptoms of retinal detachment is the appearance of floaters in the field of view. This floater looks like a shadow, a mosquito to a worm flying in the field of view. In contrast to floaters caused by lack of sleep, floaters that become symptoms of retinal detachment usually will not disappear even though the eyes have been rested and taken to bed.

However, ordinary people can not distinguish floaters caused by lack of sleep and floaters that become early signs of a tear in the retina. People should immediately go to a retinal physician if the floaters do not disappear after days.
"Floaters are the initial symptoms that must be immediately realized for emergency cases," continued Cosmos.
Other symptoms of retinal detachment are photopsia or light flashes. Many describe photopsia such as the sensation of exposure to light when photographed with a camera that uses a flash.
Initially, symptoms of photopsia may occur only occasionally. Over time, the symptoms of photopsia will happen more often. "If you have seen the flash of light, do not wait tomorrow (to see a doctor), should come soon," said Cosmos.
Untreated retinal ablation will show more severe symptoms of visible space covered by 'black curtains'. This 'black curtain' is actually a retina that has been dislodged and covered some of the patient's field.
Cosmos says retinal cases are disrupted are emergency conditions that need to get immediate treatment. Patients should undergo surgery within a week of diagnosis. In Singapore, patients who have been diagnosed even have to undergo surgery on the same day.
"Because, imagine if the nervous dislodged and did not get food, he will die immediately," explained Cosmos.
