The Benefits of the Forgotten Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most widely used spices in Indonesian cuisine. Providing a distinctive yellow color and flavor, turmeric also provides many health benefits.

This plant has long been known as one type of processed herbs are often consumed daily. However, as the times progressed, the benefits of turmeric seemed to be forgotten.

Depression

Some compounds in turmeric can support a person's mental health. The most famous of the beneficiaries for mental health is curcumin. Scientists are particularly interested in the potential of curcumin to relieve depression and help antidepressants work better.

Virus infection

If you are in an unpredictable weather condition, may sip saffron tea to be one of the recommended. Curcumin may help to fight various viruses, including herpes and flu. Remember, turmeric only has about three percent of the curcumin, and the body does not absorb the curcumin well, so that once in a while the cup of tea does not become a panacea.

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

A recent study that women followed for three consecutive menstrual cycles found that curcumin supplements helped to relieve PMS symptoms. A study of muscles from rats showed that turmeric can also relieve menstrual cramps.
