Revealing Facts about Toothpaste

Finding the right toothpaste starts from recognizing your dental and mouth special needs. The right toothpaste for someone else, not necessarily right for you.

So many choices of types and brands of toothpaste in the market. Which one should be selected?

Here are some types of toothpaste based on their content and usefulness.

Toothpaste with flouride

Fluoride is the most important mineral material that should be contained in every toothpaste.

This mineral is useful to renew minerals in areas of teeth that begin to damage due to acid substances.

In addition, fluoride can help the enamel or outer layer of teeth remain strong and protected from damage caused by acid from the processing of food in the mouth.

Antique Toothpaste

At first, tartar is a plaque or bacterial layer on the tooth that then hardened and difficult to clean.

If not immediately cleaned regularly, can cause the buildup that will cause gum disease.

Some toothpaste claims to contain ingredients such as pyrophosphate and zinc citrate that can prevent the formation of tartar.

Also contains trichlosan antibiotics that help kill bacteria in the mouth.

But on the other hand, actually tartar can only be removed by the dentist and can not just by brushing your teeth.

In fact, toothpaste can actually cause teeth to be sensitive to cold.

For plaque, all toothpaste can certainly remove plaque if you brush your teeth with proper technique.

Toothpaste for sensitive teeth

Toothpaste that usually contains potassium nitrate or strontium chloride is usually recommended for people whose teeth easily feel pain if exposed to foods that are too hot or cold.

The material in it helps block the nerve ducts on the teeth. But keep in mind, the best way to handle sensitive teeth is actually to do the maintenance. Not dampen the pain.

Toothpaste containing bleach

Toothpaste that claims to whiten teeth generally contain a laxative material that serves to remove stains on the teeth and coating it so it looks brighter.

Although in general toothpaste with bleach is relatively safe to use every day, too often use it can risk damaging tooth enamel.

There is also a toothpaste containing baking soda that is claimed to function to remove stains on the teeth.

But actually this material would lose its benefits if exposed to water. In addition, this type of toothpaste can actually only remove stains on the tooth surface, but can not change the original color of the tooth.

Here are some general guidelines for choosing toothpaste for yourself and your family:

1. Make sure the toothpaste brand is already registered in the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) for safety and effectiveness tested.

2. Know your needs and family. For toddlers, avoid toothpaste with mint flavor.

3. It's okay to try a few different toothpaste brands to find what's most appropriate.

4. Another effective way is to ask the right toothpaste recommendation for you, to the dentist who knows your dental health.
