Cancer is a disease that is feared by many people because of deadly and is still hard to find a cure for menyebuhkannya. The
treatment process is still very expensive, and the patient's pain
caused tremendous suffering of cancer patients continues to increase.
Starting
from concern over the condition, Heny Ekowati, researcher and
university lecturer pharmacy General Sudirman (Unsoed) tried researching
to find a cure for cancer plant. Finally, research conducted since 2009 is coming to fruition.
Heny
said that the focus of his research includes two things, namely finding
medicinal plants to cure cancer and drugs to suppress the side effects
of cancer treatment, cancer patients lived.
Hexane
extracts of black cumin (Nigella sativa Lor) was developed as a
potential immunomodulator in patients with immunodeficiencies such as
HIV-AIDS infected patients has decreased the number of CD4 cells, said
Akrom Kes, lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University Ahmad Dahlan
in Yogyakarta.
"Hexane
extract of black cumin seeds (EHBJH) can be developed as a
chemopreventive agent antikarsinogenesis through cytoprotective
antioxidant and immunomodulatory mechanisms," he said in an open
doctoral examination in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Gadjah
Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, on Monday (04/02/2013).
According to him, the effect EHBJH can improve lymphocyte CD4, CD8, IFNgamma levels, and hematoprotektor. The
success of black cumin seeds to increase the number of CD4 and CD8
cells as well as the impact on CD4CD25Treg cell population gives hope to
patients with HIV-AIDS antiretroviral therapy (ARV) as adjuvant
therapy.
