Many questions often arise in the community, especially for those having problems with stomach and want to carry out the holy month of fasting in Ramadan. Questions include whether fasting would aggravate heartburn? Are people allowed to fast heartburn?

In fact, according to Ari, stomach ulcers due to functional disorders usually with complaints of pain can be reduced by fasting and feel more healthy when fasting. This happens because of complaints of heartburn that occurs in patients affected by eating disorders, consumption of snack foods, like fatty foods, sour, and spicy all day.

"During fasting, these patients must eat more regularly because only two times with a more or less the same time each day during the fast, ie at dawn and break the fast," he said.

Ari said, most people who fasted will be more patient and control stress. The things is what causes patients with functional disorders can be fast with good and ill maagnya complaints will be reduced.

"It is precisely those which will improve functional heartburn maagnya if fasting" he said.

Ari explained, in general heartburn is divided into two major groups of functional heartburn and stomach ulcers organic. In patients with functional heartburn, it is known if the examination by endoscopy (upper gastrointestinal tract binoculars) is obtained by anatomical abnormalities.

While the organic ulcer, usually obtained by anatomical abnormalities, such as cuts or abrasions in the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and cancers of the digestive organs.

Ari said, specifically on organic heartburn sufferers who have not treated especially if experiencing symptoms such as weight loss, anemia / pallor, vomiting blood, black BAB, and can not swallow, is not recommended
for fasting.

"As for the people that there was indeed an organic disorder, fasting would aggravate stomach pain condition if not treated appropriately. However, if stomach pain left untreated, they can perform like a normal fasting generally," he said.

Therefore, Ari convey to those who want to do the fasting in order to immediately go to the doctor to evaluate whether the ulcer disease that have suffered include organic or functional abnormalities.
