However, most people ignore this pattern and have a polyphasic sleep habits or sleep patterns like a cat ( catnaps ) . The habit of sleeping where and when it's affecting the pattern of daily life .

National Sleep Foundation , a nonprofit organization that focuses on the needs of sleep , issued a list of how much sleep a person needs based on age . Sleep needs are met on the advice of the community will result in a better society . Here's the list :

Hour range does not mean a person can choose his needs . This range is used to estimate the basic needs ( basal sleep needs) , as well as debt sleep (sleep debt ) each day .

Basic needs sleep refers to the basic needs for the rest . This figure is the desired amount of sleep each night on the body . When these needs are met , then we can be sure the person is well rested .

When these needs are not met then immediately consider sleep debt . Sleep debt is the number of hours of sleep that the body was not found . If a person does not sleep the night before , we can be sure of concentration and energy will decrease until a few days later .

Sleep debt may be paid on those nights thereafter . However, due to the effects of sleep deprivation can not be repaired .

" Sleep debt would be paid . But debt and repair of sleep is certainly not the same urang . Little sleep debt that can probably be fixed , but if too much could not be restored , " said sleep specialist health from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences , Raghu Reddy .
