Should diabetics Abstinence Food Sweet ?

Diabetes or diabetes is often considered a disease caused by excess sugar. Because of that sugar and other sweet foods become the main enemy of the people with diabetes (diabetes).
Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by high blood sugar levels. Basically, it happens because the body can not adequately produce the hormone insulin.
Food is an important part in increasing blood sugar levels. In the process of eating, the food eaten will be digested in the gut and then converted into a form of sugar called glucose. Then the glucose is absorbed by the intestinal wall and circulated into the blood stream.



In diabetes, the problem is a lack of insulin, so glucose can not get into cells to be converted into energy. Impaired insulin is most often associated with obesity.
Reducing sugar or other sweet foods is recommended to prevent lonjaknya blood sugar levels. But according Dr.Fiastuti Witjaksono, nutrition specialist clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, as well as healthy people, people with diabetes may actually keep eating sugar.
"But the sugar portion is restricted only five percent of total daily calories. Mengasup If for example, we mean that 1,800 calories of sugar or carbohydrates should be consumed only 25-30 grams per day or equal to 3 tablespoons," he explained.
In the book Diabetes? Who's Afraid? written by Prof.Sri Hartini Kariadi, Sp.PD, mentioned that eating arrangements in diabetes is to lower blood sugar levels close to normal by balancing food intake, medications, and physical activity.
"Food diabetics not be distinguished from a normal person, but keep in mind the principle of 3J, which is the type of food, amount and schedule of eating," wrote Prof.Sri.
Meet the principle of balanced nutrition to meet the need of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals that come from healthy sources.
Diabetics are encouraged to limit food sources of complex carbohydrates such as rice, noodles, corn, bread, potatoes, and other foods made from starches. Instead, increase your intake of fiber such as vegetables and fruits.
At the beginning, diabetics are encouraged to weigh food in accordance with the advice of a doctor. When the blood sugar under control, then the family can eat from the menu origin measuring the amount of food. What is important is the balance it with physical activity.
