Computer Keyboards Can Spread Disease

Computer keyboards, especially those that are often used interchangeably, the potential to transmit the disease. This was stated by the Chairman of the Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Anis Karuniawati in Jakarta, Tuesday (5/3).

According to Anis, one of the causes for the human hand contains millions of bacteria. When using a computer keyboard, the bacteria that are in the hands can be attached to it.

Anis had read the literature cited, it is estimated there are about 64 bacteria on every inch of the computer keyboard. "The keyboard is also a point of transfer of bacteria than toilet handles and door," he said.

Interestingly, when compared with bacteria on the toilet seat, the bacteria in the keyboard more numerous. Because the keyboard less frequently cleaned than a toilet seat.



The disease can arise from not keeping the keyboard is generally related to the gastrointestinal tract, such as diarrhea. Besides digestion, the keyboard can also cause infections when bacteria get into the wound in the skin.

"More extreme, there are now bacteria are difficult to treat with antibiotics. If such a subject so difficult to heal wounds," said Anis.

That's why he advised computer users to diligently wash their hands before and after using the keyboard.
