Nutritionists recommend eating crab meat at least two or three times a week. Research also reveals that crab meat keeps you protected from chronic heart disease and gives energy to the body. 1. Lose weight
Crab meat is very low in calories and only contains about 1.5 grams of fat. This makes crab meat the perfect choice for those on a diet.
2. Improve vision
Crab is a source of vitamin A which is known to be good for eye health. Vitamin A contains organic compounds such as retinol, retina, retinoic acid, and beta-carotene which contribute to eye health by playing a major role in the visual cycle and preventing macular degeneration and cataracts.
3. Prevent selenium damage
Selenium is an important mineral found in crab meat. This helps prevent cells and tissues from potential damage caused by free radicals. Selenium also works by playing an important role in the functioning of thyroid hormones by protecting the thyroid gland against oxidative damage which helps in the production of thyroid hormones.
4. Protect the heart
Crab meat is a source of omega 3, selenium and copper fatty acids which help lower your bad cholesterol. Bad cholesterol increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.
