Meals are eaten not only affect waistlines, but also on whether or not our easy daytime sleepiness.
In one study, the research team analyzed the levels of sleepiness or alertness 31 healthy people. The respondents were aged 18-65 years, not fat, and has a normal sleep pattern. The research team recorded their diet.
High-fat diets have been linked closely with our easy sleepy during the day, while the high-carbohydrate foods make us more alert. There is no link between the consumption of protein with sleepiness and alertness.
Results are not associated with the age of participants, age, body mass index, amount of sleep time, and total calorie intake.
"The increase in fat intake has a direct effect on drowsiness," says Dr.Alexandros Vgontzas, researchers from Penn State College of Medicine.
Results of this study corroborate previous studies on diet and drowsiness.
"Excessive Sleepiness and fatigue are very often experienced by people. Vigilance actually be improved if we reduce the intake of fatty foods," said Vgontzas.
High-fat foods are also known to increase the risk of cancer and heart disease.
