Once the difficulty of controlling the desire to smoke, many smokers who still smoked in the vehicle. In fact, it is very detrimental to the health of people nearby.
Being a car with someone who smoked for an hour is enough to make us exposed to harmful chemical substances. In the study, which are exposed to secondhand smoke three cigarettes in vehicles has increased the level of carcinogens (cancer-triggering substances) and other toxic substances.
Researchers from the University of California, said their research showed how dangerous so passive smoking in the vehicle.
In the study analyzed 14 non-smokers who sat next to the driver who smoked in the car. During the one hour trip, the smoker spent three cigarettes, while at the rear and front window opened about four inches.
Prior to the trip and afterwards (about 8 hours later), the researchers collected urine samples to measure levels of component passenger chemicals in cigarettes.
Apparently after the trip found elevated levels of butadiene, arcylonitrile, benzene, methylating agent, and ethylene oxide. Groups of chemicals were known to be associated with cancer, lung disease, and heart in smokers.
"The results of the study clearly shows that everyone, especially children, should be protected from exposure to secondhand smoke in the vehicle," says lead researcher, Dr. Gideon St. Helen.
Even so, he admits that the results may not represent the actual conditions in this study because the car is not moving.
