Beware, 5 This Food Can Trigger Joint Pain

Joint pain is a health problem that can interfere with the ability of one's movement and productivity. Generally, joint pain is triggered by various factors such as other diseases, age to physical activity as well as strenuous exercise. What is rarely realized is, joint pain can also be triggered by the wrong food selection.

There are various studies that have proven that some foods can trigger joint pain. Here are the five foods as reported by the Times of India, Tuesday (3/7).

Tomato

Despite its anti-inflammatory properties, recent research has shown that consumption of tomatoes can lead to joint pain. In the study, as many as 20 percent of people with gout reported tomatoes as a trigger for joint pain.

The research team also analyzed people who did not have gout. The results found that tomato consumption in this group also increased uric acid levels in the blood. High levels of uric acid are a major cause of gout.

Starchy Food and Processed Carbohydrates

High consumption of refined carbohydrates and sugars not only increases the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Consumption of refined carbohydrates and sugars can also lead to inflammation and joint pain. Joint pain arises because this food triggers the release of an inflammatory 'sender of the message' called cytokines.

Milk Derivatives Products

Dairy products have a type of protein that can increase the likelihood of inflammation and joint pain. Joint pain can occur because this type of protein can irritate the tissue around the joint and trigger the onset of pain.

AGE Products

AGE stands for Advenced Glycation End which is considered to be toxic to the body. AGE food products can damage essential proteins in the body. This destruction can lead to the appearance of pain in the joints. AGE will appear in food if food is heated, baked, fried or dipasturized.

Alcohol and Cigarettes

It's no secret that alcohol and cigarette consumption can increase the risk of health problems, including joint pain. Experts reveal that smokers have a great risk of rheumatoid arthritis. While drinkers of alcohol have a great risk to the problem of gout.
