Sugar Can Be Healing Wounds

Sugar may be used as an alternative healing wounds. A small study conducted by nurses and doctors in the United Kingdom examined the effects of sugar for treatment of wounds is a recipe handed down from a family, as reported by the BBC.

Murandu Moses, the man from Zimbabwe who are studying at Birmingham University, said her father used to treat wounds granulating sugar. According to him, the sugar can prevent the increase in the number of bacteria at the site of injury.

He found some success from a small study done in 35 hospitals in Birmingham. According to him, the study of the benefits of sugar need to be developed further.

A 62-year-old male patient named Alan Bayliss, had to undergo amputation at the upper right leg knee, and suffered the removal of veins from his left leg. Removal of vascular vein can not heal as well as the doctors predicted earlier. Then, Murandu advised to treat the wound with sugar.

"There was a big change. Wounds are deep and very real big, as big as my finger. When Moses first bandaged my wounds with sugar, he almost used the whole pot of sugar, but two weeks later, he only had to use four to five spoons tea, "he said as quoted by the BBC.

Bayliss said he was very satisfied with the results, though at first she was hesitant.
