Healthier fat in Organic Milk

Milk is a food that contains fat . But to get a more healthy fats , organic milk seems to be an option .
Because according to a recent study , organic milk contains more healthy fats because the content of omega - 6 and omega - 3 is more balanced than non - organic milk . The researchers argue , is because organic milk produced from cows that feed on grass alone .
The researchers conducted an analysis of 400 samples of milk organic and non - organic are taken from several states in the United States for 18 months . They analyzed the fatty acid content in milk - the milk samples . In particular , they analyzed the content of the balance between omega - 3 and omega - 6 essential fatty acids can not be produced independently in the human body .
Laboratory results showed that organic milk has a ratio of omega - 6 and omega - 3 is 2.3 . While non - organic milk ratio is 5.8 .
According to a study published in the journal PLoS ONE , the high ratio of omega - 6 and omega - 3 in one's diet associated with higher health risks , such as heart disease . Studies show that most healthy ratio between omega - 6 and omega - 3 in the diet is in the range of 2.3 .

Author Charles Benbrook study , researchers from the Center for Sustaining Agriculture Natural Resource at Washington State University , said the study results are in line with previous findings showing that feeding grass and legumes in cattle will improve the health of dairy cows at the same time it generates fat profile .
" The impact of fresh rumpur feed on milk fat profile is generated based on the physiology and metabolism of cattle . Then farms that provide access to the cow to go out foraging on pasture produce quality milk fat was better , " he said .
Marion Nestle , professor of nutrition and public health at New York Universiry who was not involved in the study , said he was not too surprised by these findings . " One aspect of the production of organic dairy cows are allowed to live freely in the grass , so the effect on the ratio of omega -fat milk . Study helps explain why it needs to be done , " he said .
