Fruits and Vegetables Purple Future So Healthy Food Trends

Food and drinks are green, like green tea matcha and very popular in 2016. Not only drinks, but also cake and green smoothies are sought. 2017 healthy food trend seems to be changing color, becoming purple.

This is a prediction experts from Whole Foods who has studied consumer behavior globally. The color purple is certainly the natural color of fruits and vegetables.

Nutrition Advisor in Cardiff Sports Nutrition, Matthew Plowman said, purple fruits and vegetables contain high levels of antioxidants. Many healthy benefits gained by eating fruits and vegetables purple.

"The fruit or vegetable purple known to fight disease, make you look younger, reduce inflammation, and is good for heart health," said Plowman.

Anthocyanins, antioxidants contained in fruits and vegetables purple, can protect blood vessels and maintain healthy skin. The content of anthocyanin that is what gives the color purple in or create these vegetables.

Antioxidants are also known to work to ward off free radicals, preventing the growth of abnormal cells in the body such as cancer.

A study also showed that consumption of purple fruits and vegetables regularly can reduce the risk of high blood pressure and cholesterol.
