Levels of vitamin D are consumed every day can reduce the risk of colon cancer. This was stated in a study conducted by Dr. Shuji Ogino, a professor of pathology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston.
Ogino explained, by taking large amounts of vitamin D, the human body tends not to develop the potential for colorectal or colon cancer. Vitamin D, said Ogino, interact with the immune system to prevent the growth of malignant cancer.
"My research actually shows that vitamin D has an effect on human immunity," he said.
According Ogino, the first research does indicate that vitamin D not only can boost immunity of cancer, but also can combat the acceleration of wound infection.
He explained, in a malignant cancer, there are many types of cells that affect acceleration, deployment, and the growth of cancer. However, in cancer also called T lymphocytes or T cells that fall into the category that inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
