4 Health Benefits of Cinnamon

Cinnamon has been used as a natural remedy since ancient. And today, in the modern world, scientists support the idea that cinnamon is not only useful as a flavor enhancer but also beneficial to health. 4 This is the healthy benefits of cinnamon:

Prevent colon cancer
The content of cinnamon that gives the brown color and distinctive fragrance (cinnamaldehyde) may be able to prevent colon cancer. At least, according to a study published in the journal Cancer Prevention May 2015.

Researchers from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy conducted a study of rats. From these studies, it is known that rats cinnamaldehyde can protect themselves from carcinogens. To find out how it affects humans, are currently being carried out further research.

Killing virus
Researchers from Touro College, said that using cinnamon per day can kill the virus. Results of the study were presented at the American Society for Microbiology Annual Meeting stated, that adding 10% extract of cinnamon on the food, effectively kill the virus that harm animals and humans within 10 minutes. The researchers suggest to put cinnamon on top of hot chocolate, pancakes, or smoothies.

Improve memory
Other benefits of cinnamon are improving memory. A 2014 study published in the Journal of Basic and Clinical Physiology and Pharmacology tested the effects of cinnamon on mice dementia.

The researchers gave mice the 50, 100, and 200 mg Cinnamomum zeylanicum (substances derived from cinnamon) and gave them water maze test and object recognition. The mice were given doses of 100 and 200 mg can survive in the water maze and have a better introduction to the object being tested.

Relieve abdominal pain during menstruation
The good news for women who often experience cramps during menstruation: in April 2015 conducted a study on 80 female students Ilam University of Medical Sciences in Iran, those taking cinnamon pills, showed a reduction in pain compared to students who took the placebo.
