Okra Rich in Nutrients for Eye Health till Skin

Although readily available in the supermarket, there are still many people who know the benefits okra bellum. In fact, researchers have found that okra can be regarded as a member of the new superfood, because it is not only low in calories and a rich source of dietary fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, but okra is also doing great things for healthy skin and eyes.

"Okra is known to have high levels of vitamin A, vitamin C, and other antioxidants, making it a perfect choice to help reduce wrinkles, helps prevent acne and even remove acne scars, and reduces irritation and blemishes on the skin," said Lana Pinchasov, RPA-C, physician assistant at Schweiger Dermatology Group in New York City.

Pinchasov continued, some of the antioxidants found in okra are beneficial for eye health is beta-carotene, zeaxanthin, and lutein.

Antioxidants are also promoting the neutralization of free radicals in the eye, which cause damage to cells in the body that is responsible for macular degeneration and cataracts. It also helps nourish the eyes to prevent eye disease.

"Interestingly, okra not only be treated as food for these benefits, but can also be applied to the face for a local effect," said Pinchasov.

"The best way to do this is to boil the okra until soft, then use a fork to melumatkannya until smooth. Apply to your face for four to six minutes for the skin smooth and fresh."
