Breaking with Dates & Pomegranate Good for Heart

If you're looking for a heart-healthy openings, you may be able to try the menu of dates and pomegranates. This is according to a recent study says that, half a glass of pomegranate juice and some fruit a day may fight heart disease.

The team of researchers at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology found that the combination of pomegranate juice and dates provide maximum protection against atherosclerosis, the buildup of plaque, or hardening of the arteries, which can lead to heart attack or stroke.

Pomegranates are rich in antioxidants polyphenols have been shown to be most significant for reducing oxidative stress. Dates, which is a high source of polyphenolic antioxidants, also inhibits the oxidation of LDL (bad) cholesterol and stimulates the disposal of cholesterol from cells of fat-laden artery.

Lead researcher Michael Aviram, concluded that people at high risk for cardiovascular disease, including healthy people, can benefit from consuming half a glass of pomegranate juice (120 ml) with three dates.
